Dear
Friends: March 10, 2002
The
TAC/EC-2002 Committee cordially invites you to come to this
year’s TAC/EC Summer Conference at the University of
Massachusetts at Amherst, July 4 through July 7, 2002 (Thursday
through Sunday). We
have developed a host of interesting programs to share with you.
Our keynote speakers will include government dignitaries
and academic and media personalities from Taiwan and achieved
individuals from the U. S. Internationally
famed musicians Cho-Liang Lin, Felix Fan and Hung-Kuan Chen will
perform Taiwanese and Western
classical music in our concert.
The
University of Massachusetts at Amherst (U Mass) is situated at the
heart of the western Massachusetts vacation land. This attractive
campus is easily accessible via major highways. The Conference
Center is spacious and comfortable. The Concert Hall comes with a large stage and theater
seating, and is air-conditioned. The dormitories and cafeteria are all near-by.
This
33rd TAC/EC Summer Conference is being organized by the Boston
Taiwanese community. “Come Together, Taiwanese Americans!”
is the theme for this year’s
conference. By this
theme, we seek to emphasize our resolve to work together and
work hard for a beautiful future for America and Taiwan.
Our
programs will reflect our concerns for what’s happening in the
world stage as well as what touches our everyday life. There will
be key-note speeches, presentations, panel discussions, recreation programs, a classical music concert, and of
course the Taiwan Night. We
will present to you experts in medicine, economics, financial
management, investment, environmental protection, and family
consultation to head our panel discussions. Please review the program schedule for more information.
This
year’s Second Generation program is being organized by SOTA (the
Society of Taiwanese Americans). The program will include five focus groups by age and
emphasize workshop and team work approaches. Please read our Second Generation invitation letter for
further description of the program.
We
have set-up a permanent TAC/EC web site (www. TACEC.org). Please check up on our web site regularly for more
information and updates. Soon
you should be able to download the registration forms here. Also, you can find more information about U Mass by linking
through our site. We
welcome your comments.
We
sincerely hope you and your family can join us in this 33rd
TAC/EC Summer Conference. Please
plan early and reserve time to come. You can expect the registration forms to reach you in early
May. Or, you can

Best Regards,
